Director Zack Snyder ("300") says he's got nothing going in a galaxy far, far away.
Snyder's representatives set the record straight after reports earlier Monday spread online that Snyder was working on a "Seven Samurai"-inspired "Star Wars" film.
In a story on
The Hollywood Reporter, Snyder's rep said that ”while he is super flattered because he is a huge fan, Zack is not involved in any way with the new Star Wars. He is currently in post on his two films, Man of Steel and 300: Battle of Artemisia.” The representative confirmed that this meant both the new trilogy and any standalone features.
Of course, Akira Kurosawa's work already has had a huge influence on the "Star Wars" canon, so fans can just revisit the Japanese director's "The Hidden Fortress." That amazing 1958 film is so similar to "Star Wars" that fanboys across the interwebs have devoted websites to making comparisons.
As cool as it might be to see that influence revisited with Kurosawa's classic "Seven Samurai," it looks like Snyder's not the man who'll make it happen.
