Paris When It Fizzles....

Rosecrans Baldwin, who co-founded and edited the online magazine The Morning News, decided a few years ago that -- like any number of American literary types before him -- he needed to live in Paris for a while.

The clash between the romantic fantasy that most people have of "The City of Lights" and the reality of living in a city where one has to moisturized the heating coils of one's stove to get them to work is at the heart of Baldwin's memoir, "Paris, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down (Farrar, Straus, Giroux, $26).

Baldwin will be in Tulsa Tuesday as the guest of Booksmart Tulsa, to talk about his adventures in the monde reel of Paris as he and his wife navigate the niceties of life amid the arrondissements.

The event, co-sponsored by L'Alliance Française de Tulsa, will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Circle Cinema, 12 S. Lewis Ave. Admission is free.
