Celebrity chef Paula Deen recently announced she has Type 2 diabetes.

Celebrity cook Paula Deen is oh-so busy trying to fend off all the flack aimed at her for announcing she has diabetes while promoting fatty and sugar-filled dishes on her Food Network shows AND her new gig as a spokeperson for a diabetes drug manufacturer.
To counter, the queen of butter-laden and sugar-heavy Southern cooking, said Wednesday she will donate a percentage of earnings from her new endorsement deal drug manufacturer Novo Nordisk to the American Diabetes Association, according to hollywoodreporter.com.
But the association, according to USA Today Wednesday, was unaware of the offer. She revealed recently that she has had the disease for the last three years.
Neither Deen nor the manufacturer would comment on the amount of the donation. Deen and her sons, Bobby and Jamie, are also contributing recipes to the new Web site Diabetes in a New Light and her family will be making appearances at diabetes health expos for free.
“I’ve always said, “Practice moderation, y’all,’” she told the Associated Press recently. “I’ll probably say that a little louder now.”
