Peanut Butter Pup Cake, a special occasion treat for dogs

A good dog food is the healthiest thing for our furry little friends. I am not one to share scraps from the table.
But on a very rare occasion, perhaps a first birthday for a healthy pup, a small amount of a specially prepared treat in moderation is OK.
My puppy just turned one this week and I made her a birthday cake using a recipe for dogs. She enjoyed a small piece outside on the patio where the crumbs don't count.
It came out the consistency of a moist muffin, sweetened by peanut butter, carrot, apple and honey.
And, yes, people could eat it too.
I had several requests for this cake, which I decorated with carrot curls. So here it is!
Peanut Butter Pup Cake
1 cup white or whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2/3 cup shredded carrots
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup shredded apple
1 egg
Glaze:
1 tablespoon peanut butter
1 teaspoon Canola oil
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Mix together flour and baking soda. Add remaining ingredients and mix well.
3. Pour into a ring mold or small casserole dish sprayed with a nonstick spray. Cook for at least 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
4. Cool and mix peanut butter with the oil. Spread the cake with the glaze.

My dog doesn't know about cake, she only knows about peanut butter and bananas.

My dog loves yogurt and ice cream. She's never had chocolate, so one time I offered her a small piece of a chocolate chip cookie, she took it, sat it down on the floor, sniffed and licked it once and walked off, I guess she wasn't impressed.
Naturally I know chocolate is not good for dogs and cats, I thought I would just try and see what she did. :-)
