Piatto Cucina Italiano, one of the earliest restaurants to locate in the Tulsa Hills Shopping Center when it opened March 1, 2010, has closed.
The phone number for Piatto Cucina has been disconnected, and its website page has been replaced by a note saying the restaurant has closed.
Piatto Cucina was noted for its lengthy wine list and upscale Italian fare served in a fine-dining atmosphere.

No surprise here... the place was really terrible and overpriced.

I thought their food was exceptionally good.

We gave it a try. Didn't care for it much.

Yeah, most people who are used to the food served at Olive Garden won't like authentic Italian.

I am sure you can say the same about "authentic" Mexican food as well. It all comes down to people's taste preferences.

Believe me, there is no such thing as "authentic Italian" in Oklahoma.

So not true, PrayingHam.

Cherokee, are you Italian?

Rats, I never tried it.

The only thing good about the place was the wine. Most of it is available at that nice wine store in the center.

I have eaten in Italian restaurants in NY, Florence Italy, and many other places. That place was terrible. I knew this would happen.

KNOWSALOT, if that is so, is there any particular Italian place(s) in Tulsa you would recommend as being as good or almost as good of what Italian food you ate in Florence, Italy?

I have eaten Italian in Florence, Rome, Venice, Milan, (all in Italy), NYC, Chicago.... Our go to Tulsa Italian is Mary's on Cherry Street, or Mondo's on Brookeside. For Chicago style pizza, it is always Marley's. There are a ton of great restaurants in our city! And, PrayingHam, read todays spot about Kreb's...

I never got to try it either. I always hate to see eating places close and this business was only open about 2 years. Tulsa is very competitive regarding eating establishments. In the mid 1980s, I had started a new job as a store manager at a shop at Woodland Hills Mall. My area supervisor was in Tulsa to train me, she was from Chicago and she was surprised at all the eating places here in Tulsa. She said it seemed there were more choices than in Chicago. Also, she told me that Tulsa was one of the "test" cities in the U.S. In other words, new businesses, new products are always tested here in Tulsa. That is if the business or product is a success here, it will be a success most anywhere else. I think she said there were about 5 or 6 test cities in the U.S.
I think owning, running an eating establishment is one of the most difficult businesses to be in. Food is very subjective, what one person loves to eat, someone else hates.
I could make a list of 10 eating places I love in Tulsa and there would be a lot of people that don't agree with my list. So any eating establishment trying please everyone is impossible.

Mar, I spent two weeks in Milan and Florence in March, I would have to say "no", there isn't a restaurant in Tulsa to compare with the food I ate in Italy.
