If you’re headed downtown to see Rod Stewart on Thursday, the Lil' Wayne Back to School Bash on Friday or Def Leppard with Cheap Trick and Poison on Saturday night at the BOK Center, plan ahead.

Long lines for the one-year anniversary BOK Center celebration show featuring Paul McCartney on Monday night have worried some Tulsa music fans about quick and organized access to the venue.

Delays have happened for other concerts at BOK Center, including bands Metallica and Nine Inch Nails. It’s common for “big-name” acts to request added security — and safety screenings, said John Bolton, BOK Center BOK Center general manager and Casey Sparks, BOK Center director of marketing and sales.

Both the opening time and security checks are dictated by the performing act, not the venue, clarified Sparks.
