With all the coverage of the Royal Wedding, I'm not entirely sure where or when the review of Odeum Theatre's "Swimming in the Shallows" will run in the Tulsa World. But here's a preview:

Odeum Theatre’s production of “Swimming in the Shallows” is one of those shows where the cast is infinitely superior to the material.
Adam Bock’s play is a slight — very slight — variation on a familiar romantic comedy theme: the “fear of commitment shuffle.”
The problem with “Swimming in the Shallows” is that the play lives up to its name. The characters and their actions remain resolutely near safe and comfortable comedy waters. There are occasions where events start to drift toward deeper, more dangerous regions, but then quickly they return to the placid, familiar shallows.
What elevates the play is the care and passion the cast, under Cassie Hollis’ direction, brings to these rudimentary characters, making them a lot more real — and a great deal funnier — than they should be.

Performances are Saturday and May 5-7 at 8 p.m., Sunday and May 8 at 2 p.m. at the Tulsa PAC. For tickets: tulsaworld.com/mytix.
