Project Runway was, in its prime, a fresh and creative reality show.
It took our fascination with fashion and mixed it with "real-life" contestants who actually had, dare I say, talent. It was can't-miss TV for some of us around here.
We even had a fun "fantasy" team of
Runway fans at the Tulsa World -- voting each week online and chatting about who Heidi Klum would 'auf' next.
But then the show got too big for its size 0 britches, endured a nasty network war and wound up on Lifetime. And now, I'm afraid, as shrewd judge Nina Garcia would say, "It looks really sad."
I've tried to keep up, but the Lifetime version of Runway has felt watered down and way too long (90 minutes = Painful).
And today comes the news of another
Runway spin off, called
Project Accessory.
Featuring actress/model Molly Sims and designer Kenneth Cole, the Hollywood Reporter writes this of the series:
"The format of the show will follow that of Project Runway, but competing designers will be creating accessories including shoes, handbags, jewelry and hair pieces."
Hmm. Who wants to bet that the first challenge is about fascinators?
