PEOPLE magazine reports Queen Elizabeth II, who was hospitalized with a stomach bug, has been released.

A statement from Buckingham Place released today said the queen had left The King Edward VII's hospital "having been admitted briefly as part of the assessment of symptoms of gastroenteritis."

According to the Associated Press, this weekend’s hospitalization marks the first in 10 years for the queen.

The illness, first announced on Friday, forced a change of schedule including the postponement of a trip to Rome.

Sources told the magazine that Queen Elizabeth, who is 86, was in "good spirits" Sunday, and that the hospital admission was precautionary.

After being treated for a stomach infection, the queen was released from the hospital this afternoon.
