WEATHER WORLD
While I do these reports weekly with the release of the U.S. Drought Monitor map, here's a reminder for those just tuning ...
A scene from the Oklahoma-filmed movie 'Twister' to lead-in to this topic:
When the movie's character who doesn't ...
It's not a Tulsa urban legend, myth or a running joke: It really does rain every year (since 2008) at downtown's Mayfest.
And ...

Are these Tulsa football players making faces at the once "likely" rain forecast for their Thursday night game? Revised storm forecasts later withheld the precipitation chances until Friday morning, leaving Tulsa (and the TU football team during their game against UTEP) without rain Thursday. It's forecasts like these that make you wonder why more college football stadiums aren't indoors like quite a few NFL football stadiums.
Let's start off in Kansas...
Oklahoma State at Kansas, 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Lawrence, Kan.
Saturday in Lawrence has highs in the mid-70s, but wind gusts up to 30 mph forecast.
Oh yeah, and an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.
If this game does get a weather delay, the storm is expected to pass... by 1 a.m. Sunday. Showers and thunderstorms are also forecast for Saturday night.
OU-Texas, 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas
It actually isn't a bad thing that this is a morning kickoff, because if this was a night game, the rain chances would be almost as high as it is in Lawrence.
A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is forecast for mostly after 1 p.m. Saturday in Dallas. However, like Kansas, wind gusts up to 30 mph are expected.
Have a safe (and hopefully dry) football weekend!
