Rain possible for OU football Saturday; sunny days for OSU and TU football

Another week of football, another time our three major college teams will be in three separate states.

Here's your forecast for each:

Tulsa at Rice: 6 p.m. Saturday in Houston

According to the National Weather Service, you can expect partly sunny skies before the game, but by the night, lows in the mid-60s with mostly cloudy skies. Also, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Sunday in Houston, and there's always a chance some of that will creep into Saturday, or at least cool temperatures off even more.

OU hosting Texas Tech: 7 p.m. Saturday in Norman

I still remember the time the University of South Florida visited Norman, and it wasn't the early fall warm rain of September, but the cold late fall rain that made us all miserable.

I sincerely hope that isn't the case for Saturday's OU game attendees, but the weather service forecasts a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms during the day, which grows to a 40 percent chance for the night. And this is a night game.

Your Saturday high is in the lower 70s, with lows in the mid-50s by the night. Bring a jacket. A waterproof one.

OSU at Missouri: 11 a.m. Saturday in Columbia, Mo.

I saw something that had a striking resemblance to snow during the St. Louis Cardinals game Wednesday night. Granted, it was quick TV shot of the bright stadium lights, so it could have been bugs.

However, those freeze warnings we have here in Oklahoma? Yeah, they're going on up in Missouri, too. Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny with highs in the low 70s. Kickers shouldn't be impacted too much by the winds either, around 7 mph.

But, I fully expect you Cowboy fans to arrive several hours before kickoff or at least get caught in traffic several hours before. The overnight lows are expected to be in the mid-40s right now, so expect a very cool morning. You might not need that thick orange blanket during the game, but you might during your pregame festivities.
