Reader tip about those Sarah Palin glasses

A kind reader called me this morning to talk about her Kawasaki frames -- the same kind Sarah Palin is getting so much press for lately.

When you're trying on frames, particularly heavier plastic ones, you may create an unflattering shadow under your eyes, Ms. Reader told me.

"If you're older, you don't want those dark circles," she told me. (When you're younger, you don't want 'em either. I'm just sayin' ...)

Anyway, she's had her Kawasaki frames for a year, and they don't cast any shadow at all on her face. In fact, she said that was the main selling point. Works for me!

To reiterate what my Tuesday story said, the Kawasaki frames like Palin's are backordered through mid-October, according to local opticians I interviewed -- Empire Optical at 3238 E. 21st St. and Hicks Brunson at Utica Square, to be exact. Also, a beloved co-worker told me that Sooner Optical at 5067 S. Yale Ave. had a sign saying they'd have them next month. So keep your eyes peeled.

Peace, love and shadow-free peepers ... xoxo

You can get Palin frames anytime you want them in West Texas. No back orders.

I wear a different Kawasaki frame and love it. I got mine at Visions on 21st.

Your Ms Reader is so right! I made that very same mistake. But on another note, can you tell me where the fashion trend of the young women today have that lets them show their rounded.. no, FAT bellies these days? Even covered, they tend to wear tight shirts that really show their obese bellies. Where did that come from, Jason? I tried to find a way to write to you but can't find your email address to start a new blog on this.

Huggers to you. Love your column

Living Wright

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
