Courtesy Elle Remember this fashion risk from last year's Emmys? I love January Jones' high-fashion efforts and look forward to her look this year.

I'm always a little giddy when it comes to the Emmys. The first, official Big Awards Show of the year, the primetime Emmy Awards are set Sunday.

And last weekend, the Creative Arts Emmy Awards were doled out to many A-listers, including Gwyneth Paltrow for her guest role on Glee, and Justin Timberlake -- who won two awards, for hosting SNL (remember the beer skit?) and co-writing his opening song for that show.

But more importantly and with football season already in full force, I'm most looking forward to another highly competitive sport that begins Sunday: the Red Carpet Smackdown.

I'm a fool for watching the carpet and dishing on the best and worst dresses. I'm most looking forward to several nominees and actresses this year, including Kate Winslet (Mildred Pierce), Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife), and especially January Jones (Mad Men) -- mostly because she loves to push the fashion envelope.

And I can't forget the lovely ladies of "Glee," notably Lea Michele, who seems to be quite the fashionista these days.

I hate to say it, but I'm NOT looking forward to several repeat offenders on the red carpet. These are the women who seem to try, but inevitably fail in the little details: Christina Hendricks of Mad Men (gorgeous actress and my favorite on the show, but she almost always winds up a fashion disaster); host Jane Lynch of Glee (she just doesn't seem to get the alterations right, or seem to care, plus she looks weird in anything other than a track suit); and sadly, Modern Family's Sofia Vergara (beautiful woman, but she always makes it a tad too sexy, didn't she wear a strange banana-colored frock last year?).

But hopefully one or all of these talented women will prove me wrong.

Whose Emmy looks are you most looking forward to?
