Contrary to the internet rumor mill, Oklahoma native and country music star Reba McEntire is alive and well.

McEntire quickly became a top-trending topic across the web after Global Associated News reported she fell off a mountain while filming a movie in Australia.

Tuesday afternoon, one of her reps posted to her official Facebook page: "Global Associated News, who devised this latest celebrity hoax, is an entertainment site that generates 'totally fake articles based on zero truth.' Reba is alive and well, but would like to thank her loyal fans for their concern."

As if that wasn't enough to quell fanatic postings from fearful fans, McEntire then took to her Facebook and her official website to clear things up, too.

"There is a rumor going around that I died after falling off a mountain in Austria yesterday while shooting a movie. While I would love to be shooting a movie in Austria, I definitely did not fall off a mountain! Nor am I dead! I am alive and kicking!!! Most of you know this already because I've been giving you daily accounts of Shelby's race.

"Oh well. Have a great day," she wrote.

Barrelhouse Beat

Barrelhouse: A colloquialism describing the low saloons at the turn of the century (19th) that served whiskey straight out of the barrel. It's also a reference to the type of music played in those venues. Ex: Barrelhouse music.

Beat: The time or timing. Ex: The band played with a solid beat. Also used as a term describing a reporters specific area of expertise. Ex: The music beat.

About me: I'm Okie born and raised, and have lived all over the state: Oklahoma City, Enid, Moore, Norman, Edmond and Tulsa. I am a music geek, writer, graphic designer and amateur photographer and videographer who's followed the Tulsa and regional music scene since I moved to Green Country more than 10 years ago. I've been enmeshed in Tulsa's varied and vibrant musical night life, what some of us affectionately call a modernized throwback to the Barrelhouse scene, since that time. I fell in love with it. I fell hard.
