This solo disc wasn't planned for release this fall — or even this year, for that matter, Aerosmith co-founder and guitarist Joe Perry has admitted.

Opportunity knocked, and Perry answered. When Aerosmith's album was postponed earlier this year, Perry pushed forward with his solo work.

The album took only 47 days to complete, and he recruited a German vocalist named Hagen, who sings on most of the 10 tracks. His versatile vocal range covers the rock gamut.

At times, the tunes are eerily Aerosmith-like, but that shouldn't be a surprise. That band has been in Perry's blood for four decades. He combines the boogie-woogie rumble of early rock stylings influenced by Roy Orbison, Gene Vincent or Buddy Holly (he's an admitted fan of all three), to the classic-rock juggernaut influence of Aerosmith and Southern blues-rock cohorts ZZ Top and glum vocalwork of Leonard-Cohen-via-Jim-Morrison. There are infusions of electronica, funk, jam, jazz, pop and hard rock.
