This morning marked Robin Roberts's first time back in the "Good Morning America" studio since receiving a bone marrow transplant from her sister last September.

She didn’t co-anchor. Not yet. Still doctor’s have her getting ready for the much-anticipated return. Roberts woke up this morning at 3:45 a.m. like she used to and got to the studio at 5 a.m. as she had before taking medical leave from the morning news show late last August.

Last week she told her GMA colleagues that doctors had approved the series of “dry runs” she’d be taking – a next step in her road to recovery and return to the show.

“My doctors want me to see how many people I actually come in contact with. How my body reacts to the stimulation – that’s a code word for stress – of being in the studio environment,” she had said.

Roberts explained that her skin is very sensitive, so doctors will see how it reacts to the studio lights. Also her vision is still blurry from the treatment, she added about why tests needed to be done off-air.

That week, Roberts did report some news however and reason enough for her upcoming return to GMA: Recent tests had shown no abnormalities.

In September, Roberts who had been diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), received a bone marrow transplant from her sister Sally-Ann as treatment for the rare blood disorder.

Last month, Roberts celebrated reaching the crucial 100-day benchmark in recovery from the transplant.

Today, Roberts was all smiles and so were her friends and colleagues.

"You know, it’s like all is right with the world again,” said co-anchor Lara Spencer this morning. “This is her world, we just live in it. We’re so happy to have her come.”

Said Roberts about her first dry run back in the studio: “What a thrill to be back at ‘GMA’s’ Times Square Studio this morning and see the best folks in the world, my ‘GMA’ family. I can’t wait to get back to the anchor chair in a few weeks.”
