From the local hard rock band Bait:

As you may have heard Safari Joe's experienced a fire recently in which they lost a barn, an entire new shipment of feed and several animals including a tiger. Safari Joe's has done so much in the way of education and happiness for children. This Sunday will be our opportunity to show them how much we appreciate them by helping them to restore what they've lost. Please join us in this effort by attending this Sunday and further by utilizing the information below.

The "Raise the Roof" show will be 8:30 p.m. Jan. 27 at Club Fusion, 16th Street and Sheridan Avenue, in Tulsa. A $10 cover charge will be donated to Safari's Wildlife Reserve.

SJWR Inc. d.b.a. Safari Joe's Exotic Wildlife Rescue, is a nonprofit organization. Donation's to Safari Joe's are tax deductible.

Other ways to help:

-- Safari Joe's has a disaster recovery account set up at Arvest Bank that can accept monetary donations. Those who are able to get to an Arvest Bank lobby can simply ask that a deposit be made to account #: 35366706.

-- You can also use PayPal to donate money. PayPal is a free, convenient and secure way to send money. To do this, visit the PayPal web site and click on the "Send Money" link. Please direct your donation to tigercalico@sbcglobal.net

-- Alternatively, they would also benefit from gift cards established at local stores that can provide items that they are desperately in need of. Stores such as: Atwoods, Lowe's, Home Depot, PetCo, PetsMart, Walmart, Pryor Lumber and Southern Agriculture are good candidates.
If you can help with a gift card, please mail it to:

Barrelhouse Beat

Barrelhouse: A colloquialism describing the low saloons at the turn of the century (19th) that served whiskey straight out of the barrel. It's also a reference to the type of music played in those venues. Ex: Barrelhouse music.

Beat: The time or timing. Ex: The band played with a solid beat. Also used as a term describing a reporters specific area of expertise. Ex: The music beat.

About me: I'm Okie born and raised, and have lived all over the state: Oklahoma City, Enid, Moore, Norman, Edmond and Tulsa. I am a music geek, writer, graphic designer and amateur photographer and videographer who's followed the Tulsa and regional music scene since I moved to Green Country more than 10 years ago. I've been enmeshed in Tulsa's varied and vibrant musical night life, what some of us affectionately call a modernized throwback to the Barrelhouse scene, since that time. I fell in love with it. I fell hard.

RT @AboutAquarius: An #Aquarius can sometimes be consumed by their own thoughts, especially at night. They can't find the "off" switch.
