SALAD DAYS: the Caesar at Dalesandro's

The first time I met Buzz Dalesandro was on my 28th birthday.

He was good buddies with 007 and Steve, who now run We Wing It seasoning based out of Skiatook.

Buzz's restaurant was located up there at the time, and he brought a big ol' bowl of his famous Caesar salad to the birthday party Steve hosted for me. More than cake, margaritas or any other gift, that Caesar was the party highlight. Well, that and the plastic-pineapple flip-flops a friend from Miss Jackson's made me, but that's a blog of a different color.

Anyway, I've been a HUGE fan of Buzz's Caesar since. It is, hands down, my all-time favorite Caesar, with Caesar being my all-time favorite type of salad.

It's simple: Romaine, Parmesan, Romano, black pepper -- made absolutely, elegantly delicious with the restaurant's tangy Caesar. I've often ordered it to go and had to force myself not to pick at the Caesar-drenched greens while driving home.

Yes, I know the Celebrity Club has its die-hard Caesar fans -- and, in my defense, I've yet to try theirs. (Jotting that on my summer to-do list ... right ... now ...)

But Dalesandro's will always have the top spot in my heart. I just wish they'd bottle the stuff! If they ever do, please keep that in my mind for next year's birthday gift, 'K?

Peace, love and Romaine ... XOXO

P.S.: Have you tried something like this somewhere else in town? Where is it, and what do you like about it? Or do you have a recipe like it? PLEASE SHARE!

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
