SALAD DAYS: the ITR at In the Raw

See what these lovely ladies are eating? It's the ITR salad. Trust me.

Love, love, love me some sushi.

I could eat it multiple times a week and never tire of it. Wasabi and soy sauce are, like, my two favorite condiments. And I've totally mastered chopsticks and can eat salad easily with them. Well, relative ease, at least. I mean, no one's been maimed in the process.

Anyway, I learned how to eat salad with chopsticks at In the Raw, specifically on their famous ITR salad. Nothing against my beloved Candy and Cody sushi rolls, but the ITR has been one of my Top 10 favorite dishes -- not just salads -- in Tulsa since I moved here.

Simple and refreshing, the ITR features roasted chicken tossed with shredded lettuce, scallions, almonds and crispy noodles in an amazing ginger vinaigrette.

Whether inside at the sushi bar in Brookside or on the patio overlooking Tulsa at the South location, the ITR is my go-to gotta-have-it entree whenever I'm at either place -- or, let's be honest, as a side to the Candy and/or Cody.

Oh! Be sure to check out Scott Cherry's review of In the Raw from Thursday's Weekend magazine.

Peace, love and ginger vinaigrette ... XOXO

P.S.: Have you tried something like this somewhere else in town? Where is it, and what do you like about it? Or do you have a recipe like it? PLEASE SHARE!

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
