Hyundai has debuted its NFL Super Bowl XLVII ad early, and it stars the
Flaming Lips.

“The Flaming Lips are very much like Hyundai,” Hyundai VP of marketing Steve Shannon told Billboardbiz.com. "They're a little offbeat. They've been around a long time and they continue to reinvent themselves."

Reports the industry magazine, "Advertisers are paying upward of $3.7 million just to air their spot during the big game." Shannon said the band was on the company's "very short list" and quickly became No. 1.
The automaker will give away 100,000 copies of the track at
hyundai.com to help promote the band's upcoming album, "The Terror," out April 2.
