Sales! Sales! Sales!

Sorry, I've been remiss in telling y'all about sales going on. Then again, I kinda rely on retailers to let me know when they're having them, and some are so busy with back-to-school stuff, they can't always let me know.

But three stores sent me emails this morning, wanted to share what they said:

1. Sara Bost at Flirt in Utica Square is getting her fall stuff in now, and she's gotta make room. So all of her spring and summer items have been marked down up to 75 percent off. Her spring/summer shoes are 50 percent off. Among the steals: T-bags dresses are 50 percent off
(that's $64), and Splendid skirts are half off, too (that makes 'em $40). Lines like Alice and Trixie, and Ella Moss have been marked down, too. For more info, call Sara at 747-6565.

2. Peggy Henry at Sideways, 1307 E. 35th Place, is hosting a summer sale, with 20-50 percent off selected clothing, bedding and furniture. She has a great selection of summer apparel, accessories, bedding and furniture
with reduced prices. For more info, call her at 742-8300.

3. Lynette Funk at Lynette's Fine Couture, 8222 E. 103rd St., has fall merchandise arriving now, so her spring/summer clothing is 40-70 percent off this weekend -- "plus sales tax holiday = great buys," she wrote. For more info, call her at 369-6640.

Peace, love and mark-downs ... xoxo

Living Wright

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
