Sam and Ella’s Chicken Palace, a popular Tahlequah restaurant since 1999, has opened at 4932 E. 91st St.

The only chicken one would find here would be on a salad, sub sandwich or pizza. The name is a reference to the store's decor, not the food.

The Tulsa store, located on the southeast corner of 91st Street and Yale Avenue next to Ri Le Vietnamese restaurant, is takeout only and will offer the same menu as the Sam & Ellas's in Tahlequah and Pryor.

One of the most popular specialty pizzas is the Big Sloppy Pie, according to co-owner Tommy Mullen.

"It is double everything, double cheese, double pepperoni," Mullen said. "It is basically a large, thick pepperoni pizza that is crunchy on the outside with a soft, chewy dough on the inside."

Sam and Ella's is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday-Saturday. The phone number is 918-794-4492.
