On Saturday, all things music will explode from Oklahoma City, with a blowout celebrating "Another Hot Oklahoma Night: A Rock and Roll Exhibit," at the Oklahoma History Center.

This family-friendly exhibit explores the rock 'n' roll artists, radio stations, personalities, venues and fans that have called Oklahoma home. Beyond the facts of each story, the exhibit will show how growing up here affected the music.

"This thing has taken on a life of its own," said Michael Dean, public relations director for the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City.

The Saturday grand opening will showcase many music acts, performing live. Admission is free.

Nearly two years in the making, this exhibit is the first in Oklahoma's history to examine the expansive roots of rock music, said Jeff Moore, director of exhibits at the Oklahoma History Center.

"There are so, so many bands with Oklahoma roots," Moore said. "And if it wasn't for Tulsa's rich music history and places like Cain's Ballroom and the Brady Theater, this exhibit wouldn't exist."

What started out as a small display in one room of the Oklahoma History Center grew to overwhelm four of the available five galleries and more than 8,000 feet of exhibit space, Moore said. "Another Hot Oklahoma Night" will run through 2010.
