A few changes in the world of dance have surprising connections to Tulsa Ballet.
The Louisville Ballet has hired Dwight Hutton to be its new executive director. He replaces Jack R. Lemmon, who is moving to a similar job with the Colorado Ballet.
Hutton danced with Tulsa Ballet in the late 1980s, and in recent years was managing director of Smuin Ballet in San Francisco. That company's founder, the late Michael Smuin, choreographed the version of Romeo and Juliet that Tulsa Ballet performed in 2007 (and in years past).
Lemmon was hired to be Tulsa Ballet's managing director in 1995, soon after the company selected Marcello Angelini as artistic director. He resigned three years later, and worked for Joffrey Ballet and Ballet Idaho before taking the job at Louisville.
