Texas Gov. Rick Perry. AP

Some folks in Texas are talking about seceding from the union and apparently Gov. Rick Perry has at least gotten cozy with the idea.

Judging from my personal experiences with the state, I'm having a hard time imagining how this is a bad idea. It's certainly not worth another Civil War.

I'd personally help Mack Brown carry any personal belongings he might have on this side of the border before the divorce goes final.

Of course, I'd want a 12-foot border fence on the north edge of the Red River to keep any illegal Texicans from sneaking into our state to take good jobs away from Oklahomans. They'll work for practically nothing. What part of illegal don't they understand?

I also want all our national assets back, including the Johnson Space Center, Fort Hood and Interstate 35. I realize in that last case it would just be a bunch of broken up asphalt and concrete, but I'd rather have the world's largest fill pile in Marietta than U.S. assets aiding the commerce of a Texish ingrates.

One question: Do you think they can be talked into taking Louisiana with them?
