Banshee's boat at the lake when it's 90-something degrees. Chips, salsa and margaritas on a patio with friends. That drift-to-sleep floaty feeling you get after coming into the A/C after a day at the pool. Sigh ... It's finally summer!

Another sign that summer's almost here pops up this weekend -- Old Navy's big "$1 Flip Flop One Day Wonder Event," which is this Saturday at all Old Navy stores across the country. That's right, ONE BUCK for each pair of flip flops for ladies, gents and tikes alike. The weather should be nice, too, so you have NO EXCUSE not to get out.

Just remember: If you wear flipflops, puh-LEEZ have a pedicure! No one wants to look at your funkified toes. Unless they're really into that, but those are the people your mama probably warned you about talking to, right?

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
