In the wake of announcing his retirement, Bob McBratney said he is optimistic about finding a new owner for Stone Bluff Cellars, a 70-acre winery located off U.S. 64 between Tulsa and Haskell.

“We haven’t formalized anything, but we are actively talking to a prospect,” McBratney said.

Becoming a winemaker for McBratney, a former ophthalmologist, was a 15-year second career when he made some of the best wines in the young Oklahoma wine industry.

McBratney announced Monday that he and wife, Sandy, will be retiring in mid October. “We still have wine available, and the gift shop will be open during normal hours through Oct. 14,” McBratney said.

On Oct. 7, Stone Bluff will have its last “Lunch With Luigi,” noon to 3 p.m. Veteran crooner Luigi Balletto will perform, and visitors may purchase a lunch of lasagna, salad, rolls and tiramisu catered by Napoli’s of Bixby for $15.

McBratney will be offering case discounts on nine Stone Bluff wines for the retirement weekend, which will run 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 12-13 and noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 14. Those wines may be ordered in advance.

To register for “Lunch With Luigi,” place advance orders on wine or get directions to the winery, send an email to info@stonebluffcellars.com, or go to tulsaworld.com/stonebluff, or call 918-482-5655.

Regular tasting room and gift shop hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday-Saturday and noon-5 Sunday.
