In case anyone missed it, the Tulsa World aggressively and forcefully has come out opposed to a proposed tax increase.
We've written several editorials against the proposal to spend $2 billion on a 12-year street improvement plan, but Saturday we foursquarely opposed the plan after the City Council sent it to voters.
Here's the editorial.
Perhaps this can put an end to the claptrap that the Tulsa World has never opposed a tax increase. Probably not because the people passing off that garbage don't read or think and find it much easier to simply repeat today what they said yesterday.
Here's the truth about Tulsa World editorial policy and taxes. We consider each one individually. Most of the time we end up endorsing them because Oklahomans are undertaxed and underserved by government and typically the plans make sense.
That wasn't the case this time for the reasons stated in the editorial, so we opposed it.
This tax is too big, too long, too centered on one purpose, and it's certain to be defeated.
