If you've ever seen an anime movie, you must have come across something produced by Studio Ghibli or Hayao Miyazaki.
After its most recent U.S. theater release of "The Secret World of Arriety," Ghibli will release another movie this year called "From Up on Poppy Hill."
The story centers around a young girl who finds herself in a moving adventure. Ghibli has produced some of the most fantastic works of animation in history, with stories so elegant and moving that you cannot help but be simply swept away in rapturous wonder at the detail of the art involved and captivating characters with very strong, connecting stories.
Studio Ghibli is populated by masters of storytelling, and this new movie will promise to be no disappointment. The movie has already generated rave reviews by Variety and Screen International movie critics. Hayao Miyazaki did not direct this movie: His son Goro Miyazaki, part of Studio Ghibli, is helming the film. This is his second cinematic project since the "Legend of Earthsea."
Originally released in Japan in 2011, the English adaptation of "From Up on Poppy Hill" will feature the voices of Gillian Anderson, Ron Howard, Christina Hendricks, Beau Bridges, Jamie Lee Curtis, Emily Osment, Aubrey Plaza and Anton Yelchin.
The movie is set for a select theater release March 15. Check local theaters for showings.
