Tad and Dixie were my favorite 'All My Children' couple. Who were your favorites?

Long before my life actually became a soap opera, I was 13, wore thick glasses and only dreamed that life could be so complicated.
My mother got me hooked on
All My Children, in the 1980s back in the days when Tad fell in love with a married Dixie, when Kelly Ripa was a goth, rebellious teen, and Sarah Michelle Gellar was slaying relationships instead of vampires.
It was a fun summertime treat that soon turned into VCR'd fodder after school. Oh the drama when the VCR failed! Once I was away at college, I could watch between classes and I even got a few new friends hooked.
So when the rumors started to fly that
AMC would be canceled, I had to prepare my mom. I feel guilty for fans of the 41-year-old soap because I'm one of the reasons ratings failed. After college, I went to work and couldn't keep up.
The show will conclude next Friday, and we'll probably never experience anything like it on a network again.
Tune in to the Tulsa World Scene next week for a story I'm working on about how locals are reacting to
All My Children's tragic end.
How do you feel about the soap's cancellation? What were your favorite story lines?
