Recently the new Star Trek movie was shown in advanced screenings in select theaters all over the world. In the most recent screening in Brazil, the press that attended came out with enormous spoilers for the new movie.
Avert your eyes if you don't wished to be spoiled!
In the 11-minute preview shown in IMAX theaters, we saw the people of Nibiru chasing Kirk and McCoy through the red forest. There's an exchange between Spock and Kirk where Spock reminds him of the Prime Directive, and that any knowledge of their presence there could alter their cultural development since they were pre-warp (and what looks like effectively bronze-aged people).
Well in the new footage (apparently this violation of the Prime Directive is a big issue in the movie) we see the Nibiru people drawing the Enterprise after it leaves the planet. I assume they must have seen the ship ascend from the ocean.
This leads to Kirk's demotion to Academy status, and he is later re-promoted to first officer under Captain Pike. Spock is apparently transferred to another ship entirely.
There is an Admiral Marcus who plays a large role in the film, and I can only assume he is Carol Marcus' father. This is odd, because Carol Marcus from TWOK (The Wrath of Kahn) hated Starfleet. We always assumed it was because of Kirk, but then again, we are in a new timeline.
The new footage also shows the endgame for some of Cumberbatch's recruits. According to reports of the footage, some of the recruits are suicide bombers. The man confronted by Cumberbatch in the trailer is one of these suicide bombers, and the ring he drops into the glass of water is This may explain the London bombing seen in the trailer as well.
TrekMovie contains more spoilers if you dare. A teaser is coming with the "Oz Great and Powerful" movie this week. (If you don't want to SEE "Oz Great and Powerful," the teaser will probably be on Apple's site soon.)
"Star Trek Into Darkness" will probably be rated PG-13 and will warp into theaters on May 17 of this year.
