At the cookout I went to Sunday evening, it was tank top, cutoff jean shorts and flip flops. My friend said to me, “you look ...
This blog was inspired by some of our early morning commenters on the weather forecast story .
Yes, as one of you pointed ...
The deluge earlier this month was exciting. For a second, I though that maybe the near-record parched May was just a fluke ...

"Waking up before sunrise can be tough to do, especially on a weekend," the nerdy scientist voiceover tells me, complete with a picture of an asleep dog next to bare feet in a bed.
A total lunar eclipse will be viewable in the western America skies early Saturday. You should be able to see Earth's red shadow fully engulfed on the moon. Face west to see into the red moon sink into the horizon as the sun rises behind your back.
So I bet you want to see that nerdy scientist voiceover video now? Here you go, courtesy of NASA:
Here is an interactive feature from the Associated Press. You will need to install Adobe Flash to view it if you don't have it on your computer already:
For non-science types like me and those of you that missed the NASA video and AP interactive feature, here is a screenshot of the video to explain what a lunar eclipse is:

In a nutshell, the sun's light rays will shine through Earth to create this red shadow on the moon. Here is a map of when the eclipse will be visible depending on where you are:

Here's Oklahoma's schedule:
Penumbral begins: 5:34 a.m.
Partial eclipse begins: 6:46 a.m.
Total eclipse begins: 8:06 a.m.
If you are like me, you will be very tempted to sleep in on Saturday like always, thinking that something like this will surely happen again sometime soon. Alas, this is your last chance to see a total lunar eclipse until 2014.
