The Panera shop at 15th Street and Utica Avenue is hosting a special event this evening, April 22, that will benefit Tulsa Opera.

Just visit the store between 5 and 9 p.m., and mention that you are a Tulsa Opera supporter as you place your order. If at least 50 people do this, Panera will donate 10 per cent of their purchases to Tulsa Opera.

In addition, members of the Tulsa Studio Artists will be performing some of the more famous arias of the opera repertoire, accompanied by Tulsa Opera artistic director Kostis Protopapas, beginning at 6 p.m.

OK,retailistically speaking,this is just another company trying to raise their own revenues for the supposed good of a worthy cause. If a retailer truely wanted to support a cause they would simply make a donation and not try to make a buck off of the promotion...
