Start saving now. Target is going expensive for the release of "The Hunger Games" DVD and Blu-ray.
In addition to allowing pre-orders of the discs, Target will also be selling a 14-karat solid gold Mockingjay pin, like the one worn by Jennifer Lawrence's character Katniss Everdeen in the film, for – are your ready for this? - $999, according to hollywoodreporter.com.
The retailer will also be selling a replica of Katniss' leather hunting jacket for $349 and a lithograph autographed by 10 "Hunger Games" actors, including Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth, for $699. But only 100 of each high-end item will be available for sale.
The jacket and lithograph will go on sale Aug. 18, according to the website. The Mockingjay pin will be offered starting Aug. 20. The DVD and Blu-rays will be released Aug. 21.
But don't worry. If those collectors items are out of your financial reach, Target has everything from jewelry (Peeta District 12 charm bracelet $19.99) to Mockingjay lightbulbs ($15.99), cardboard cutouts to picture frames and more in the $6.99 to $37.99 price range.
On the retailer's website, there is also the Katniss doll ($24.95), the DVD ($18.99), the pillow case ($14.99) and the trilogy book set by Suzanne Collins ($37.99).
"Catching Fire," the film based on the second book in the trilogy, is scheduled for release Nov. 22, 2013.
Lionsgate has announced "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay," Part 1 will be released on Nov. 21, 2014, and Part 2, will be released on Nov. 20, 2015.
