The white chili is The Alley's take on a popular dish from the old St. Michael's Alley. MATT BARNARD/Tulsa World

The Alley, a gastro pub featuring a wide selection of lunch and dinner items, craft beers and artisan wines, has opened at 3324 E. 31st St.

It is located on the back side of Ranch Acres Shopping Center in space that formerly held Rick's Cafe Americain and St. Michael's Alley.

Owner Brian Biehl, who recently worked at a trio of McNellie’s Group restaurants, said the name of his restaurant is a nod to St. Michael's Alley, which opened in 1960 as Tulsa's first San Francisco-style coffeehouse.

One of the dishes on the gastro pub-style (high-end pub food) dinner menu is The Alley's version of white chili, a favorite of St. Mike fans for many years.

Sandwiches, soups and salads dominate the lunch menu with most items falling between $5 and $12. Most dinner entrees are $15-$20.

Dishes range everywhere from braised short ribs and fish-and-chips to squash ravioli and Scotch eggs.

The Alley opens daily at 11 a.m., and lunch is served until 4 p.m. The bar will stay open to 2 a.m. every day except Sunday, when it closes at midnight.

Mitch Neely is executive chef, and Roger Byers is bar manager.

The phone number is 918-960-2822.

Thanks, MLP. I guess I was expecting it to be all together at the bottom.
