The Killer Inside Me: Tulsa looks great, Alba not so much

I imagine that many people have an interest in seeing "The Killer Inside Me" simply because they want to see what the film looks like, as it was mostly shot in Oklahoma.
It should be relatively easy to figure out what shots came from the day of filming in Tulsa, with most coming about 45 minutes into the film. The crew was shooting on Boston Avenue downtown, with those wonderful buildings and that stunning art deco architecture standing in for 1950s Fort Worth.
Tulsa and other sites in Oklahoma did their job beautifully in serving as a backdrop in this handsome film.
But I also figure that people thinking of attending "The Killer Inside Me" for these reasons should also know what they're getting themselves into.
They should be prepared to see one of the more disturbing films they may ever see when it comes to violence against women. Pulverized, defenseless women like actress Jessica Alba, proclaiming their love for their attacker to the disgustingly graphic end.

If you go to see the movie for Oklahoma and Tulsa, just know that you might want to watch a few scenes while peeking between your fingers.

I See Movies for Free

“I was born a poor, black child” … not me, actually, but Steve Martin’s character in the “The Jerk.” That absurd opening line is just one of the absurd number of film facts, quotes and minutiae contained in movie critic Michael Smith’s brain, at his disposal to toss out on a moment’s notice. It’s a key requirement as Tulsa World film critic to know these things. Michael learned a few other life facts along the way (seven years as a Crystal’s Pizza & Spaghetti manager) before attempting journalism and joining the Tulsa World in 1996, where he’s covered everything from a school shooting in Fort Gibson to a tornado in Stroud to witnessing an execution. A little community theater coverage was sprinkled in there, too. Movies engender many of his happiest memories, from standing in line for “Star Wars” and “Grease” at the Southroads Cinema to the James Bond and Pink Panther movies that always premiered at the enormous Continental Theater.
