"The Killer Inside Me," a harrowing drama set to star Casey Affleck, Kate Hudson and Jessica Alba, is now scheduled to begin shooting in Oklahoma in May, a state official said Thursday.

Pre-production on the film, based on Anadarko native Jim Thompson's pulp fiction work, is to resume next week, with principal photography beginning the last week of this month in New Mexico and then early May in Oklahoma, according to an e-mail from Jill Simpson, director of the Oklahoma Film & Music Office.

Guthrie, Cordell, Oklahoma City and Tulsa have been listed as locations for shooting the film. "The Killer Inside Me" was initially slated to begin shooting in the state on March 23, and then on April 20.

The delays have been the result of coordinating the schedules of the actors involved in the film, Simpson has previously said, including Affleck shooting a documentary on a so-called transition from acting to rapping of Joaquin Phoenix (whose so-called last film, "Two Lovers," opens Friday at Circle Cinema).

Based on Thompson's book about a small-town sheriff who hides his alternate persona as a homicidal murderer, the film has a cast that has reportedly been enlarged to include Bill Pullman, Ned Beatty, Elias Koteas and Liam Aiken.
