The New Weekend

Maybe you have noticed: Beginning next Thursday the old Spot section will be history and we will introduce the new Weekend section. That means a new way to look at restaurants, too.
Some of those long, long, oh so long reviews will be a thing of the past. As a reader, what you will get is MORE restaurants, twice as many in fact, reviewed each week, only in a somewhat shorter and hopefully more relevant format.
I don't know yet how our old "star" system for rating restaurants is going to translate to our new format. We will have to see how that goes. I'll consider any good ideas.
In the meantime, on the restaurant beat in next week's first Weekend section, I will take a look at some truly exciting stuff going on at Elote Cafe, a new group of sub and ice cream chops called Stadium Subs & Cream, some things to get fired up about at FireRock Grill & Bar, and a most interesting summer cocktail (one you can easily make at home) with appetizers at Bodean Seafood.
Stay tuned for more. It should be a good ride.

I trust they will still compete favorably with the quality of the restaurant reviews in Urban Tulsa Weekly. Please confirm!

@Bob, the trouble with the UT reviews is almost all of them are glowing (and some at places I know for a fact are not worthy). I don't trust the UT reviews.
I like the longer review format that exists now, but it'll be OK going to a shorter format but twice the reviews.
What I do miss are the periodic updates of what places have closed, what's changed, etc.

@yep - I agree, the updates, especially what's closed, are good info. Don't know why that would go away with the new format. Same for the star system, why not keep it? To be continued, I'll see the new format in the morning and it may provide some clues.
