I miss the old cans, which were perfect for launching bottle rockets.

The Folgers Jingle Contest is back.

Starting Jan. 22, Folgers and award-winning musician/songwriter
Gavin DeGraw will invite anyone with an affinity for music to submit their own version of the iconic "The Best Part of Wakin' Up is Folgers in Your Cup" jingle for a chance to win $25,000.

Over its 28-year history, "The Best Part of Wakin' Up" jingle has been
adapted by numerous nationally renowned recording artists across various music genres, including country, R&B, even gospel. Composed by Leslie Pearl, the original jingle debuted in 1984 and has since been used in countless advertisements, as ringtones and as the inspiration behind the Folgers Jingle Contest.

Now, about the contest: Individuals and groups of six or fewer are encouraged to submit original video entries from Jan. 22 through March 6 at Folgers.com/jingle. Entries will be judged based on creativity and originality, musical performance and adherence to creative assignment. The top 10 finalists will have their entries posted online at Folgers.com/jingle for a nationwide vote from May 15 through June 19.

Good luck! And let me know if you do a video and it goes online.

Peace, love and Folgers in my cup ... XOXO

It would take a reward to get me to drink Folgers.

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
