The week ahead: Winterfest, Chili Bowl and "Tuesdays with Morrie"

Some of the week's options:

Sunday
Today is the last day to enjoy Winterfest, outside the BOK Center at 200 S. Denver Ave. The ice rink is open from noon to 10 p.m. Carriage rides will be offered from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is $5-$10. Carriage rides are $10 per adult and $5 for children 12 and younger.

Monday
With many kids back in school Monday, use the time to take your younger ones to storytime at one of the numerous library branches. Other events at the libraries on Monday include an e-reader clinic at Zarrow Regional Library from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Wii games for 10-18 year-olds at Nathan Hale Library from 3:30 to 5 p.m., and “Greek Myth Tracker" for kids 10-14 from 4 to 4:45 p.m. at Martin Regional.

Tuesday
The 27th annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals will be at Expo Square Tuesday through Saturday.
Qualifying races begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, with the grandstands opening at 3 p.m. The championship event will begin at noon Saturday.
This year’s events includes 252 competitors. The entries are from 32 states, as well as Australia, Canada, Finland and New Zealand.

A free trade show is also open to the public. A variety of racing products and apparel will be available through more than 100 vendors.

Wednesday
Consider checking out the exhibits at any of the area museums on Wednesday. If you head to Philbrook, you can catch "Dynamic Impressions," a gallery talk by museum curator Tanya Paul about the impact of Rembrandt on printmaking during the 1600s. The talk is from noon to 1 p.m., and is included with museum admission.

Thursday
“Tuesdays with Morrie,” presented by Theatre Tulsa, will open at the PAC’s Doenges Theatre, 110 E. Second St., at 8 p.m. Thursday.
The play is based on the book by Mitch Albom, about a series of weekly meetings between him and Morrie, his former mentor.
Performances are set through Jan. 13. Tickets are $12-$16, available at 918-596-7111 or tulsaworld.com/mytix.
