Thighs, bananas and cardigans -- just another Hump Day ...

I had a banana today -- mashed up in a fabulous cake that was frosted. But it was a TINY piece, I swear!

Well, fry my thighs and call me a 10-piece bucket-o-chicken -- I was right! Hi, by the way, how are you?

Anyway, so I was rambling yesterday (and, it seems, craving fried chicken today) about how I eat and just plain-ol' LIVE better when I start my day with exercise. Sho nuff, I flung myself out of bed at 6 a.m., went to Kiminatrix's yoga class at 6:30 a.m., then ran five miles on the treadmill -- and my mood has been pretty dang good, even with looming deadlines and other personal stuff brewing in my periphery.

I did splurge a teensy bit, but it was our beloved food writer, Natalie Mikles', birthday today, so Fitness Guinea Pig made this FABULOUS banana cake with the world's best frosting. As she totally has my back regarding my healthy-lifestyle pursuit, she cut me a small piece, and I completely refrained from picking up the cake pan and making out with it as I do on occasions when I'm less graspy of social norms.

Plus, it's beautiful outside, I've had compliments on my suit (although the scarf's a bit much -- don't ask), and The Cardigans are singing "Lovefool" to me. It's a good day.

OK, let's get TUESDAY'S VITTLES outta the way ...
BREAKFAST: Orange and, like, 10 almonds (didn't I already tell y'all this?)
SNACK: Four cups of coffee (yeah, I told y'all this ...)
LUNCH: Turkey on whole wheat with spinach, light mayo and spicy mustard
SNACK: Vending-machine bag of Baked Lays (cheddar and sour cream, no less)
SNACK (about one hour later): Vending-maching bag of Cheez-Its
DINNER: I honestly don't remember -- maybe a spoonful of the chicken salad I made for Thursday's and Friday's lunches? Hmm ...

Anyway, Wednesday's vittle intake was MUCH healthier, and the rest of the week's will be, too. More on that later this week. But Thursday is Lord V's. Say a prayer, and lock up your cocoa.

Peace, love and banana cake ... XOXO

Living Wright

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
