Angelina bares all -- of her right leg.

What did you think of the Academy Awards on Sunday night? I told you what I thought in the form of my live Twitter feed, four hours of observations, snarky remarks and wishing Billy Crystal had left us with our memories of his past hosting efforts.

If you want to follow my Twitter feed in the future, here's how: Get on Twitter, and follow me at @michaelsmithtw, as in Michael Smith at the Tulsa World.

If you want to see what you missed, below is a sampling of my take on the 84th annual Academy Awards, which I found to be over quite quickly by tweeting throughout the show.

And did you know: There are already Twitter accounts created for Angelina Jolie's bared-leg presentation and Jennifer Lopez's slip of the, uh, you know. If not, search the web, you'll find it, but not in a family newspaper.

SUNDAY NIGHT OSCAR TWITTER FEED
6:55: Wow, how much weight has Zach Galifianakis lost? The beard was at least 80 pounds.

6:59: What was more stunning: Sacha Baron Cohen dumping ashes on Ryan Seacrest, or how the host kept his cool and segued to commercial?

7:09: Red carpet: Glenn Close just name-dropped Matthew Mungle, Oklahoma native makeup artist who helped turn her into "Albert Nobbs."

7:22: Most screen time tonight: Billy Crystal, or Kristin Chenoweth in ABC promos for "GCB," the Broken Arrow native's new series next Sunday.

7:33: Billy Crystal, revived by the regenerative powers of George Clooney's kiss. Very funny.

7:37: If the TV audience is big, it will be them checking out Billy Crystal as host, not the movies they didn't go see in theaters.

7:42: Billy hasn't hosted in seven years, and his voice isn't the same for the best-picture medley, especially with the music that loud.

7:44: "Hugo" wins cinematography, a surprise from the start, guaranteeing that "The Tree of Life" will win no awards.

7:50: "Hugo" wins for art direction, too, and is now 2-for-2. Is this a trend to watch?

8 p.m.: The award for makeup goes to "The Iron Lady," was so rooting for Atoka's Matthew Mungle ("Albert Nobbs") to win his second Oscar. Next time!

8:04: Super Bowl for women commercials: Ellen's ad for J.C. Penney is the early winner.

8:07: "The Academy is trying something new this year," says Sandra Bullock. ... I have yet to see anything remotely modern.

8:08: Iran's "A Separtion" wins for best foreign-language film, opens on Friday at the Circle Cinema.

8:16: Octavia Spencer wins best supporting actress, as Minnie in "The Help," and her speech is heartfelt and funny at the same time.

8:26: OK, the film editing winners for "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" legitimately didn't expect to win.

8:33: Don't get too excited about "Hugo" and its 4 awards; it might win one more, and it won't be best picture.

8:42: I love Cirque du Soleil. But at the Oscars? How desperate does this feel?

8:44: The documentary Oscar winner gets bleeped: They're so edgy!

8:52: What we remember is that Billy Crystal made hosting the Oscars look so easy. This looks so hard.

8:55: Tina Fey, Chris Rock, Emma Stone all so funny. Who can take over hosting, STAT?

9:01: Best supporting actor: Christopher Plummer for "Beginners," at 82 the oldest acting winner in Oscar history.

9:11: The most excited sound from the Oscar audience all night: at the sight of Uggie, the dog from "The Artist." He's that cute.

9:28: "The Muppets" win best song, and they make me think they could be quite good Oscar hosts. It could happen.

9:32: My predictions 4-for-4, or 5-for-5 if you count my call that Woody Allen wouldn't be there to accept his screenplay award. That was easy.

9:34: Wouldn't "Bridesmaids" have been an inspired choice for original screenplay? Yes, it would have been.

9:44: "Bridesmaids" cast drinking game: say "Scorsese" = drink up! Brilliant!

9:49: New Twitter accounts already created for Angelina Jolie's right leg and Jennifer Lopez's, ahem, wardrobe malfunction.

9:58: Best director goes to "The Artist," one of the most deserving awards of the night. The man and his lovely film are one.

10:00: Can't believe I forgot that Oprah was winning an honorary Oscar tonight. That controversy didn't last long

10:04: Time for the "In Memoriam" segment of the show. Time to see who they inevitably leave out.

10:21: Congratulations to Jean Dujardin, "the George Clooney of France," winning best actor for "The Artist" - over George Clooney.

10:27: Dujardin wins and wrecks my perfect scorecard; Dujardin wins and my wife says, "He was just too good looking in that movie."

10:30: Wow, shocker, what just happened? Meryl Streep won best actress for "The Iron Lady."

10:33: Meryl was fantastic in "The Iron Lady." I wish the movie were good. If a surprise win, I wish it had been Michelle Williams. Astounding.

10:35: Meryl says she knows she'll never win again; her role in "August: Osage County" is a sure-fire Oscar nominee, maybe a winner.

10:40: "The Artist" wins best picture; five Oscars for "The Artist," five Oscars for "Hugo," but all the important ones go to "The Artist."

10:43: Big winner tonight: producer Harvey Weinstein. "The Artist" wins 5 Oscars, "The Iron Lady" goes 2-for-2, even wins best documentary.

I See Movies for Free

“I was born a poor, black child” … not me, actually, but Steve Martin’s character in the “The Jerk.” That absurd opening line is just one of the absurd number of film facts, quotes and minutiae contained in movie critic Michael Smith’s brain, at his disposal to toss out on a moment’s notice. It’s a key requirement as Tulsa World film critic to know these things. Michael learned a few other life facts along the way (seven years as a Crystal’s Pizza & Spaghetti manager) before attempting journalism and joining the Tulsa World in 1996, where he’s covered everything from a school shooting in Fort Gibson to a tornado in Stroud to witnessing an execution. A little community theater coverage was sprinkled in there, too. Movies engender many of his happiest memories, from standing in line for “Star Wars” and “Grease” at the Southroads Cinema to the James Bond and Pink Panther movies that always premiered at the enormous Continental Theater.
