A Bartlesville eatery played host on Wednesday night to George Clooney, one of the producers of "August: Osage County," the star-studded movie about to begin filming in the Pawhuska and Bartlesville areas.

It was Frank & Lola's Neighborhood Restaurant & Bar, often noted as one of the best places to dine in the city. At least that's what one of our Facebook friends told us who ate there last night as well.

I'll be surprised if many out there don't hear similar stories from friends in the near future, now that the cast and producers are joining crew members who have already been working in the Osage and Washington County areas in recent weeks.

Did George have the green chili? Or the cheeseburger? Or perhaps one of the green chili cheeseburgers that induce raves at Frank & Lola's?

Is George a good tipper, of the 20 percent variety, or something less or more?

These details are unknown, but I'm told that "people want to know these kinds of things." So there you have what is known.

“I was born a poor, black child” … not me, actually, but Steve Martin’s character in the “The Jerk.” That absurd opening line is just one of the absurd number of film facts, quotes and minutiae contained in movie critic Michael Smith’s brain, at his disposal to toss out on a moment’s notice. It’s a key requirement as Tulsa World film critic to know these things. Michael learned a few other life facts along the way (seven years as a Crystal’s Pizza & Spaghetti manager) before attempting journalism and joining the Tulsa World in 1996, where he’s covered everything from a school shooting in Fort Gibson to a tornado in Stroud to witnessing an execution. A little community theater coverage was sprinkled in there, too. Movies engender many of his happiest memories, from standing in line for “Star Wars” and “Grease” at the Southroads Cinema to the James Bond and Pink Panther movies that always premiered at the enormous Continental Theater.
