This weekend, fill your calendar with music, dance, films and fireworks.

Films on the Philbrook lawn
Yes, it’s hot, but who doesn’t like the thought of watching a movie on the lawn? More specifically, “The Philadelphia Story” on the beautiful Philbrook grounds. The museum’s annual summer “Film on the Lawn” program begins Friday. The Academy Award-winning film stars Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart. General admission is $7. Garden gates open at 7:30 p.m. and the movie starts at dusk. Bring blankets or chairs and a picnic basket (and be sure to pack lots of water and cool beverages).

PAC shows
The Tulsa Performing Arts Center is brimming with offerings this summer. Some options this weekend: “Satori: A Moment of Realization” and “A Blossom, Dearie.”

“Satori: A Moment of Realization,” presented by Perpetual Motion Dance, is a performance of modern and aerial dance pieces featuring aerial apparatuses like handing iron ladders. Shows are set for 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $20.

“A Blossom, Dearie” is a fictionalized version of the life of Blossom Dearie, a 50s and 60s jazz icon. The production is written and directed by Rebecca Ungerman and stars Annie Ellicott and Sarah Maud. Performances are set for 8 p.m. Saturday, and 1 and 8 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $20-$30.

This week will also be the final chance to check out the “Art at 2100 Degrees” exhibit. The show features the work of the students, interns and staff of the Tulsa Glassblowing Studio. All sculptures, vessels and other pieces were created from 2100-degree glass. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Take a flight on a B-17 bomber
This weekend, Tulsans will have a chance to get on board a restored WWII-era bomber. “Aluminum Overcast,” the Experimental Aircraft Association’s restored B-17 bomber, will be at Richard Lloyd Jones Jr. Airport Friday through Sunday as part of the association’s 2012 “Salute to Veterans” national tour. Rock A Wish
“Rock-A-Wish” is an all-day rock concert and car show to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The event will be at the SpiritBank Event Center, 10441 S. Regal Blvd., starting at 10 a.m. Saturday. Local bands will perform throughout the day, and a silent auction and prize giveaways will be part of the event. Headliners Billion Dollar Koopers and Dressed to Kill, tributes to Alice Cooper and KISS, will perform at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance at tulsaworld.com/spiritbankeventcenter or 918-369-9360, and $25 at the door.

Fourth of July celebrations
The festivities start early. The Tulsa Community Band will be at the Tulsa Historical Society, 2445 S. Peoria Ave., for a free 6:30 p.m. patriotic concert today. The concert will be held on the lawn of the Society’s Vintage Garden. Attendees can bring blankets, chairs and picnic baskets.

Rhema Bible Church, 1025 W. Kenosha in Broken Arrow, will present Rockets Over Rhema on Sunday. The event will begin with a patriotic tribute at 5 p.m. Outdoor activities — including a mechanical bull, rock-climbing wall, inflatable games, a car show and concessions — begin at 6 p.m. An outdoor concert featuring several Christian artists is set for 6:30 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 10 p.m.

Also Sunday, Southern Hills Baptist Church, 5590 S. Lewis Ave., is hosting its Fourth of July Freedom Celebration. Activities begin at 10:30 a.m., with a service featuring patriotic and worship music, as well as a tribute to government officials and members of the military.
A free hamburger and hot dog picnic lunch will be provided after the service, and a carnival featuring inflatables, rides, a climbing wall and balloons will last until 3 p.m.
