The Helmerich Library book sale is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
Toy trains, spring garden sales and a poetry walk are among this weekend’s various offerings.
‘Decades’
Tulsa Girls Art School, a nonprofit year-round visual arts program that seeks to empower “underserved girls through visual arts training,” is hosting its spring art show, “Decades.”
Elementary-school aged girls enrolled in the art program created a doll, painting and sculpture representing a decade they researched. The show is set for 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at the program’s facility, 2202 E. Admiral Blvd. Each student receives 30 percent of the money from the sale of her art.
Book sale
This year’s Friends of the Helmerich Library Book Sale is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Helmerich Library, 5131 E. 91st St. Thousands of gently used books and media will be on sale. Proceeds will benefit the library.
Garden events
Spring is here, and so are the garden festivals.
The Tulsa Garden Center, 2435 S. Peoria, is hosting its 2012 SpringFest Garden Market and Festival this weekend. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. A wide selection of plants, gardening information, garden art, a kids’ zone, auction, live music and food will all be part of the two-day event.
GardenFest, hosted by A New Leaf, will also be held this weekend. From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, customers can choose from hundreds of plant varieties. A New Leaf is located at 2306 S. First Place in Broken Arrow. For more information about A New Leaf and its services, see today’s Scene section for a story about the organization.
Women in business
The Raindrop Turkish House, 4444 W. Houston St. in Broken Arrow, is hosting a ladies coffee night at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The event will feature Becky J. Frank as its keynote speaker, who will speak about “Women in the Business World.” Admission is $10, to benefit The Children’s Hospital Oncology and Hematology Clinic.
