This weekend: Monster Jam, wedding shows and an art crawl

Monster Jam will be at the BOK Center this weekend.

Art, wedding shows and monster trucks are all on the calendar this weekend.

Art crawl
Start the year off with some art, during the Brady Art District’s monthly First Friday Art Crawl.
Enjoy the work of local artists at the various galleries, studios and businesses in the district. This month, the newly opened Hardesty Arts Center, 101 E. Archer St., will be participating in the crawl, from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.
Also, be sure not to miss the “Everyday People” exhibit at the Henry Zarrow Center for Art and Education, 124 E. Brady St. The exhibit features photographs of 366 people from the Tulsa area, shot by Tulsa World photographer John Clanton each day during 2012.

Wedding shows
Brides-to-be, this is your time. Two wedding shows are happening in Tulsa this weekend.
The Tulsa Wedding Show will be at the Renaissance Hotel, 6808 S. 107th E. Ave., on Saturday. Doors open at 9 a.m. to Very Important Bride ticketholders, and at 11 a.m. for general ticketholders.
The event runs through 4 p.m. More than 100 exhibitors will be at the show, including bakeries, florists, planners and musicians. VIB tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door. General admission tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. On Sunday, from 1-5 p.m., brides can visit the venues. The Oklahoma Wedding Show will be at Central Park Hall at Expo Square, 4145 E. 21st St., 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Bridal fashion shows, cake tastings and more than $12,000 in prize giveaways will be part of this event. Admission is $10. For more, call 918-744-6205 or visit tulsaworld.com/okmag.

Metcalf gun show
This weekend also brings the Metcalf Gun Show to Tulsa.
Presented by Warren Metcalf Production Inc., the show will be held at Expo Square’s Exchange Center, 4145 E. 21st St., and will feature hundreds of tables of guns, ammunition and reloading equipment.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Monster Jam
Monster Jam, the motorsport show that features racing and freestyle competitions between monster trucks, returns to Tulsa this weekend.
Monster Jam drivers will compete at shows at the BOK Center 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets to the show are $27 and $37, available at tulsaworld.com/bok and 1-866-7-BOK-CTR.
A pit party will be held at the BOK Center at 5 p.m. Saturday, and showgoers can purchase tickets at the venue for $5 for kids and $10 for adults.

Chess workshop

Ever thought of taking up chess? If so, consider dropping in at Central Library, 400 Civic Center, anytime between 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday. Michael Sullivan, a 20-year veteran chess teacher, will give short lessons and tips, and attendees will then get the opportunity to play. The workshops will be offered weekly through Feb. 9. The workshop is for anyone ages 8 and older. Call 918-549-7438 to sign up. Walk-ins are welcome if space is available.

Tulsa To Do
