This weekend: Oktoberfest, Arabian horse show and a charity car show

Horses, cars and films are among this week’s options.

Oktoberfest
Tulsa’s Oktoberfest, which has grown to become one of the best in the country, is set for today through Sunday at River West Festival Park, 2100 S. Jackson Ave.
German food, music and numerous activities are all part of the event.
Admission is $6, and hours are 5 to 11 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Ragtime for Tulsa

Ragtime for Tulsa continues its series of programs at the Tulsa Historical Society, 2445 S. Peoria Ave. The sessions, held every Thursday night through October, include discussions of the history of ragtime music as well as performances. Music spanning the period from the 1890s' compositions of Scott Joplin to the contemporary rags by performers such as William Bolcom will be featured.
This week's session is "Contemporary Ragtime," with Amy Cottingham and Donald Ryan.
Admission is $5. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. today.

Cancer Sucks Turn Tulsa Pink Car & Motorcycle Show

The Admiral Twin Drive-in, 7355 E. Easton St., will present the second annual Cancer Sucks Turn Tulsa Pink Car & Motorcycle Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
The event will feature a car show, inflatable toys for the kids, live music and vendors. Gates re-open at 6 p.m. for a double-feature of “Herbie Rides Again” and “Gone in 60 Seconds,” which begin at dusk.
Admission is $5 per car load for the car show and $5 per car load for the movies.
Proceeds benefit Cancer Sucks, a grass-roots organization based in Tulsa that helps fund cancer research. For more information, call 918-695-6671 or visit tulsaworld.com/cancersucks.

Arabian horse show
The U.S. National Arabian and Half-Arabian Championship Horse Show will be at Expo Square from Friday through Oct. 27. Attendees can see competitions, performances, tours and shopping opportunities. About 1,800 horses have already been registered for this year’s show.
Admission is free for the first six days, then $10 for adults and $7.50 for students and seniors Oct. 25-27. Kids 12 and younger are free.

Butterfly walk
Every third Saturday of the month, from April to October, Oxley Nature Center in Mohawk Park holds a butterfly walk.
The event, set from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, is free and is for all ages.
Bring binoculars if you have them to help spot the center’s numerous butterflies.
