This weekend: Parades, Mistletoe Run and gingerbread houses

Plenty of activities to choose from this weekend:

‘Tis the Season’
Redfork Main Street will host its annual lights-on event, “Tis the Season,” from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at 4071 Southwest Blvd.
Cookies and cider, music, door prizes, and free pictures with Santa are all part of the event.

Sensitive Santa
Children with autism are invited to take pictures with Santa during the “Sensitive Santa” event at Tulsa Promenade mall, 4107 S. Yale Ave.
The event will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the Center Court of the mall. The mall will provide a sensory-friendly environment with low lights, light music and a calm atmosphere. Each family will receive a complimentary 5-by-7-inch photo.

World AIDS Day Mistletoe Run

The World AIDS Day Mistletoe Run is set for 2 p.m. Saturday near Cain’s Ballroom at North Main and East Easton. The event will include a 5k, 1-mile run and 1-mile dog walk.
The run will benefit Health Outreach Prevention Education Inc., a Tulsa nonprofit community-based health organization that provides services to those affected by HIV/AIDS.
A dog costume competition will also be held, with awards for the best costume, best holiday costume and most creative bandana.
Mark Gibson will provide live entertainment.
Registration is $25-$30. To register in advance, visit

Gingerbread house display

Stop by WaterWorks Art Center, 1710 Charles Page Blvd. in Newblock Park, to see scale-model gingerbread structures of famous buildings. The structures, made by area kids and adults for a competition, will be on display Friday through Dec. 12. Hours of the art center are 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Fridays, and varying hours on Saturdays.

‘A Christmas Story’

“A Christmas Story” is currently playing at the Tulsa PAC’s Liddy Doenges Theatre. This production features all the elements of the 1983 comedy movie, based on stories from Jean Shepherd’s book, “In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash.”
Performances are 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Parades

The Festival of Lights Christmas Parade takes place in downtown Sand Springs starting at 7 p.m. Friday. Among this event’s 100-plus themed entries are lighted displays, decorated floats, marching bands and Santa himself.
Broken Arrow’s Civitan Christmas Parade starts at 10 a.m. Saturday in downtown Broken Arrow. Marching bands, floats and walking groups will be part of this parade. The theme of this year’s parade is “A Star Spangled Christmas.”

Tulsa To Do
