This weekend: Ragtime, art and horses

A shopping expo is also part of the horse show.

Arts and crafts shows, ragtime music and horses are on the calendar this weekend.

CHiT|CHaT 7
CHiT|CHaT 7, an event featuring eight local artists and their work, is set for 7 p.m. today at Fassler Hall, 304 S. Elgin Ave.
The artists will present their work in 20 slides and will have 20 seconds to discuss each slide. Printmakers, painters, photographers and architects will be among those participating. Tulsa World photographer John Clanton will present his Everyday People project at the event (tulsaworld.com/everydaypeople). Other artists include Jeff Dalton, Daniel Sutliff, Al Pagano, Kenny Dennis, Mike Sottong, Shekoofah Kedhri and Laurie Keeley.

Grande Liberte performances at horse show

The U.S. National Arabian and Half-Arabian Championship Horse Show will be at Expo Square through Saturday, with competitions, performances, tours and shopping opportunities.
Attendees can watch acclaimed horsewoman Sylvia Zerbini lead her horses through an array of tricks during performances of her Grande Liberte show at 7 p.m. today and Friday, and 1 p.m. Saturday.
Also today, from 5 to 7 p.m., visitors can enjoy wine, hors d’oeuvres and music during an art walk through the shopping expo at the Exchange Center.
Admission is $10 for adults and $7.50 for students and seniors. Kids 12 and younger are free.

Ragtime for Tulsa

Ragtime for Tulsa will have its final program on the “History of Ragtime” today at 6:30 p.m. at the Tulsa Historical Society and Museum, 2445 S. Peoria Ave. Classic ragtime will be featured in performances by pianist Bill Rowland.
The focus of the program will be the music of Scott Joplin, James Scott and Joseph Lamb, considered the premier ragtime composers. Admission is $5.

Broken Arrow ‘Fun and Games’
Night Out on Crime with Fun and Games on Main will be at the Broken Arrow Farmers Market pavilion, 418 S. Main St., from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
The community event will include live entertainment, food, a petting zoo, inflatable games, candy and children’s costume contests.
The event aims to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and strengthen partnerships between the police and the community.
At 5:45 p.m., a pumpkin hunt will be held at Central Park, 1500 S. Main St. The HUB, 507 N. Main St., will show an “after-party movie” in its parking lot.

Skeleton workshops
Living Arts of Tulsa is hosting a workshop from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday for those who want to build papier-mâché skeletons to use in the Day of the Dead skeleton parade on Nov. 1. The cost is $25 to build one skeleton, and families or groups can work together to make one. Supplies are included, but personal supplies may also be used.
During the festival, life-size papier-mâché skeletons will be paraded into the main stage on Brady Street.

Arts and crafts
The Alpha Rho chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha is hosting its Arts and Crafts Benefit Bazaar at Oliver Middle School, 3100 W. New Orleans in Broken Arrow, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Find more than 100 crafters. Admission is free. For more information, call 918-251-0617.
Also on Saturday, the Whale of a Tale Arts & Crafts Sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Catoosa Community Center, 105 E. Oak St. in Catoosa. The sale benefits Catoosa Public Library.
