THE COLONY
28th Street and Harvard Avenue
10:30 p.m. Friday
Cover: Free
Music: Cody Clinton and the Bishops host a mustache party.
Baffi. Schnurrbart. Bigote. It’s fun to say in almost any language. But a mustache is even more fun to wear. Don’t take our word for it — paste on a Fu Manchu and try it for yourself. (Or, draw one on — Sharpie ink doesn’t last forever, you know.) Plus, Cody Clinton and the Bishops will totally rock this oh-so-fun facial hair fete. Think Wilco going stabby on Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers: It’s ironic, iconic indie folk rock at its finest ... with a ’stache.

Music: Vandevander, Jesse Aycock Band, Benjamin Del Shreve
Quick! Find a way to clone yourself. There are simply too many great shows worth seeing this weekend — and this is definitely one of them. Tulsan Jesse Aycock’s Neil Young-esque vocals are stunningly bittersweet. His lyrics grab your heart, then gently clasp it until you don’t know whether you’re going to cry or dart right out and kiss a stranger. Then, his weepy slide playing delivers his audience — and bluesy Vandevander’s — into winsome rapture.
Stay for powerhouse powerpop act Benjamin Del Shreve, from Fayetteville, Ark. Its hand-clapping, footstomping, good-time party anthems will have you singing along with every chorus.

PLAN B BAR
520 E. Third Street
8 p.m. Friday
Cover: Free
Music: Jirrhaff, Circa 360
Tulsa psychedelic jammer Jirrhaff gives “sweet auditory smooveness all up in yo’ earhole,” says the band’s homepage. Yeah, that’s about right. With influences ranging from Herbie Hancock to Tool, well, the word “fusion” is too mild. Local hip-hop/rap act Circa 360 includes several members of the latter-’90s Soul Style Krew dance and hip-hop troupe (which last year celebrated its 10 year anniversary).

Music: An Evening with the Chris Duarte Group
Call in now and tell your boss that you’ll be late on Monday. Sunday night, you’ll be rolling with blues powerhouse Chris Duarte’s two, one-hour- plus sets of exhaustingly powerful tunes. This Austin-based six-string virtuoso has always believed that, in music, the journey is as important as the destination — maybe even more so. Get on the bus. This trip isn’t one you wanna miss.
If you’re not convinced, well, Duarte finished fourth on Guitar Player magazine’s Best Blues Guitarist list, behind legends Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy and B.B. King. Yep, we figured that last tidbit would sway you.
